Recycling Specialist / Advisor - Afghanistan (8 Positions)
These positions are in support of a U.S. Government contract. Requires a one year deployment commitment (minimum) with one 2 week break at about the 6 month point.
Provide technical guidance and expertise to regional commanders and base mayors for the management of a full range of waste products bases throughout the Afghanistan Theater. The primary focus will be on initiating, improving, and finding innovative solutions for recycling, reusing, reducing materials in the waste stream. There is a great need to develop or invigorate viable markets in the local communities for raw commodities (recycled goods) generated by the bases.
Required education, knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Science or Engineering, earth or Biological Engineering or Sciences. This requirement is not waiverable.
- At least 5 years relevant experience. This requirement is not waiverable. Experience in solid waste/hazardous waste management and recycling is desired. Experience in domestic wastewater is beneficial.
- Possess computer skills with strong working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel and Power Point).
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Motivated self starter with demonstrated ability to apply skills to projects.
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to perform independent work.
